About this event

The programme combines settings of the Song of Songs and its evocation of a luscious, fertile landscape by Spanish composers of the Renaissance, such as Juan Gutiérrez de Padilla and Tomás Luis de Victoria, with the beauty of Britten’s Five Flower Songs, alongside two new commissions from Leo Chadburn and Amy Bryce.

The Marian Consort is an award-winning British vocal ensemble, led by founder and director Rory McCleery. Described by the Guardian as “fluid, vivid and, crucially, daring”, this versatile group excels equally in repertoire from the 12th century to today.
