About this event

Richard Strauss and Ludwig van Beethoven come together in a programme full of imagination, drama, and emotion. Pianist Kirill Gerstein brings a personal touch to every note he plays, so imagine how he’ll sparkle in this rare performance of the young Beethoven’s very first piano concerto.

The concert also includes Strauss’s Death and Transfiguration, a powerful musical journey from life to death and beyond, and his Der Rosenkavalier Suite, inspired by the world of his much-loved opera. Filled with elegant waltzes and rich orchestral colour, it captures all the charm and romance of old Vienna.
