This concert brings together two great romantic German composers, and features Mendelssohn's Cantata Verleih uns Frieden and Hear My Prayer, and Brahms' much-loved Requiem, which the composer referred to as a 'human requiem', written to console the living and to explore grief in its many forms, rather than to accompany the dead.
